THIS IS BUCKSHOT SPEEDWAY'S OFFICIAL 604 LATE MODEL CLASS RULESET. YOUR CAR MUST LEGALY MEET THESE STANDARDS AND DEMINSIONS IN ORDER TO PASS TECH INSPECTIONS. IF YOUR CAR IS NOT WITHIN OUR ASSIGNED RULESET STANDARDS, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED, NO MATTER YOUR FINISHING RACE POSITION.

  • All cars are subject to inspection by Buckshot Speedway at any time during the event. 

  • Buckshot Speedway reserves the right to confiscate suspicious, or deemed illegal components.

  • Buckshot Speedway reserves the right to alter or amend these rules at any time in the interest of fair competition.​

ENGINE

​

  1. Chevrolet Performance Crate Engine Part# 88958604/19318604.

  2. Engine’s GM serial number and when applicable, Crate USA build certification number must be clearly visible.

  3. No changes are allowed to the engine – including but not limited to, Intake Manifold, Heads, Valve Covers, Front Cover, Oil Pan, Harmonic Balancer or any other parts on or in the Engine.

  4. No Vacuum Pumps.

  5. Engine set-back will be 6” from center of top ball joint to the #1 spark plug with a 1” tolerance.

SEALS

  1. 604 Engines are sealed at the Intake Manifold, Cylinder Head, Front Cover & Oil Pan with GM Chevrolet Performance Caps.

  2. THE ONLY SEALS ALLOWED FOR COMPETITION ARE: Chevrolet Performance Cap Seals,  Crate USA Cable Seals, Rush Cable Seals, IMCE Cable Seals, UCRA Seals, Fast Track Seals,  American All Star Crate Series Seals. (No Twist off Bolts will be legal. Engines must meet specs based on seals.)

  3. All Crate Engines Must Remain Stock as they came sealed from the factory. They must not be altered, modified or changed from factory Specs. All engines will be checked by the latest GM Tech Manual.

HEADERS​​

  1. Collector Type headers Required. Must have (4 ) four tubes into a collector of consistent diameter.

  2. NO TRY “Y” HEADERS. NO 180 DEGREE HEADERS, NO MERGED HEADERS, NO SQUARE TUBE HEADERS.

​

CARBURETOR / INTAKE

  1. Any 4 Barrell Carb, must be Needle Seat and Accelerator Pump Style.

  2. Engine must be Naturally Aspirated.

  3. May use (1) one inch, one piece, carb spacer (.040 Tolerance Maximum) with two standard gaskets (Max 0.070” thick), one gasket between spacer to carb and one gasket between spacer to intake. At no point may spacer extend into Intake Manifold area.

​

STARTER

  1. All Cars must have a working starter.

​

WATER PUMP

  1. Cast or Aluminum Water Pump.

  2. Stock mounted Water Pump and Fans Only.

  3. No electric fans, No electric water pumps.

​

POWER STEERING

  1. Power steering pump may be mounted on the front of the motor or on reverse mount.

​

DISTRIBUTOR

  1. Any Electronic Distributor Type Ignition System.

  2. NO CRANK TRIGGER, DISTRIBUTOR MULTI-COIL OR MAGNETO IGNITION SYSTEM.

  3. No Electronic Traction Control Devices.

  4. Ignition Box / Buy Rule: You are able to protest/buy the ignition box from the WINNER of the FEATURE only. The cost is $550.00 & is non-refundable. Must be paid in CASH after the FEATURE ONLY within 5 minutes of cars crossing the scales. If the winner decides not to sell their ignition box then they are deemed illegal & will be disqualified receiving no points or prize money.

​

FUEL PUMP

  1. Fuel Pump must be mechanical, cam driven or belt driven.

  2. No ELECTRIC fuel pumps.

​

FUEL CELL/FUEL

  1. An Approved fuel cell (32 gallon max) must be securely mounted in the trunk area of the car inside a metal .20-gauge metal box supported by a minimum of two, 2 inch by 1/8 inch steel straps.

  2. All fuel cells must be completely visible from rear of car.

  3. Racing gas or E85 allowed.

  4. Fuels must have a specific gravity of Less than (Gas .745/E85 .786) Anything over will be disqualified.

  5. NO NITROUS OXIDE, NO PROPLYENE OXIDE, NO NITROETHANE, NO MTBE.

  6. Fuel may be collected during post-race tech or sent to labs for testing. Any suspicious fuel will then be sampled and lab tested.

  7. Additives that will be tested for but not limited to are nitromethane, propylene oxide, alcohol (all types), aldehydes, aminobiphenyl, benzene, borane, benzidine, beryllium compounds, bromine compounds, chlorinated compounds, chromates, dioxane, methylene diamine, naphthylamine, nitrogen compounds, styrene, toluidine and xylidine. Any of these compounds that are not included in fuel claimed or in correct amounts matching benchmarks will be deemed illegal.

  8. Buckshot Speedway has the right to impound and check any competitor at all times.

  9. ANY DRIVER NOT WILLING TO SAMPLE THEIR FUEL WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

​

TRANSMISSION

  1. Must have at least one forward and one reverse gear in working order.

  2. No straight drives or in and out boxes.

  3. Driveshafts must be painted white. Carbon Fiber are allowed.

​

WEIGHT​

  1. Weight 2300lbs.   ****NO FUEL BURN OFF****

  2. Minimum weight will be measured with driver in car.

  3. Attached weight must be securely bolted to frame with 1/2" or larger bolts, and painted white or silver with car number clearly painted on them.

  4. No weight may be attached to rear bumber.

  5. No lead pellets or liquid weight.

  6. No driver operated weight adjustment devices.

  1. 8” spoiler & sides only.

​

FRAME​

  1. All frames must be of steel construction.

  2. Square or rectangular frame must have a minimum of 2" by 2" material, .083 wall thickness.

  3. If round tube frame, tubing must have a minimum of 1-3/4" outside diameter, .083 wall thickness.

​

ROLL CAGE

  1. All cars must have a suitable steel roll cage protecting the driver's compartment, including headrest.

  2. Each bar must be at least 1-1/2" in diameter, with a minimum material thickness of .083"

  3. Roll cages must be welded to frame.

​

WHEEL BASE

  1. Minimum wheelbase of 103".

​

SHOCKS / SUSPENSION

  1. Standard Late Model Suspensions only.

  2. Standard late Model Suspensions equals (1) shock per wheel except on left rear. Left rear is allowed (2) shocks.

  3. One in front of rear end and one behind.

  4. Shocks must be mounted vertical to axle tube.

  5. No spring loaded or shock type 4 bar rods. Only standard solid 4 bar rods.

  6. No torsion bar front or rear suspension.

  7. SWAY BAR OK.

  8. Standard one piece bird cages; No split bird cages.

  9. Shocks at any position on the race car, including lift bar or torque arm shocks, must be constructed of magnetic steel or Aluminum.

  10. No thru rod style shocks allowed, no remote adjusting type shocks.

  11. No Inverter or J-Damper of any type allowed.

  12. Chassis brackets must be fixed, no movement.

BRAKES

  1. Steel brake rotors only.

  2. NO CARBON FIBER, NO TITANIUM OR OTHER EXOTIC MATERIAL BRAKE SYSTEMS.

​

WHEELS

  1. Any brand or type of wheel allowed.

  2. Must be mounted with lug nuts.

  3. Maximum Wheel width 14”.

  4. NO KNOCK OFF OR CENTER LOCK WHEELS.

​

TIRES

  1. Crate 21’s & 55’s may be substituted for 1350’s & 1600’s American Racer 44, 48, 56.

  2. All tires subject to be checked with a durometer.

  3. Anyone in violation of tire rules will be disqualified from the event and will have to pay a $500.00 fine before being allowed to race at Buckshot Speedway again.

  4. All classes will adhere to Tire Testing policy as stated.

RULE VIOLATIONS, PROTESTS, AND FEES

 

GENERAL PROTEST

  1. FOR ANY PROTEST: The car being protested and driver protesting must finish in the TOP 5.

  2. ALL PROTEST MONEY FOR ENGINE OR TIRES IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

  3. The protested driver has the right to counter protest the driver protesting them.

​

ENGINE VIOLATIONS / FINES

  1. Anyone found in violation of Engine rules and/or Factory Specs inside the sealing system of the engine will result in driver being banned from competition at Buckshot Speedway for 30 DAYS from the date of the infraction & pay $500.00 fine before being allowed to return to competition.

  2. Anyone found in violation of Engine Rules and/or Factory Specs outside the sealing bolts of the engine will result in the Driver being disqualified for that event and will pay a $500.00 fine before being allowed to compete at the next event.

ENGINE PROTEST

  1. The protest fee for a complete tear down of an engine that finishes the “A-MAIN” is $1300.00. The fee must be paid to the Race Director or Technical Director, in cash, within 10 Minutes after the Checkered Flag has fallen for the “A-Main”.

  2. You must finish in the top 5 to be eligible to protest.

  3. $1000.00 will go to the winner of the protest and $300.00 to the Engine tear down. When an engine is protested & sent for tear down only a representative from Buckshot Speedway and the Engine Shop Tech will be present during tear down. The owner & protester will be notified with the outcome of the inspection when completed.

  4. The cost is $500.00 for a Top End Engine Tech (Valve springs, P&G, Cam Tech). $250.00 will go to the track tech and the remainder to the winner of the protest.

  5. The cost is $200.00 to P&G any engine.

​

FUEL PROTEST

  1. Fuel protests cost $200.00 & will be sent to the lab.** IF ILLEGAL FUEL IS FOUND, THE DRIVER MUST PAY A $500.00 FINE TO THE TRACK BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO RACE AGAIN. Prize money will be held during all protest, anyone found to be illegal will be disqualified from the event and receive no prize money or points.

​

TIRE PROTEST

  1. Tire protest is a $200.00 non-refundable fee.

  2. If tire is found to be illegal the driver must pay a $500.00 fine to the Race Track before being allowed to race again. (Prize money will be held during all protests.)

  3. Anyone found illegal will be disqualified from the event and receive no Prize Money or Points.
